Additional Infertility Treatments
Assisted zona hatching (AZH) is a procedure performed on embryos prior to transfer to the uterus on Day 3 of embryo development to increase the chance of embryo implantation and pregnancy.
Blastocyst Stage Transfer involves growing human embryos in the laboratory to a more mature "blastocyst" stage before transferring to the uterus following in vitro fertilization.
Donor Insemination involves the same process as described for IUI, except that the semen sample comes from a donor.
Gynecoradiology is an acronym to describe a treatment that uses x-ray equipment to diagnose and treat causes of infertility. IHR is currently the only fertility center in the nation with dedicated x-ray equipment.
Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (IVF ICSI) has revolutionized the treatment of male infertility allowing fertilization to occur even if only a few sperma are available.
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), also known as Artificial Insemination, generally accompanies ovulation induction. When IUI is performed, the partner's semen after its seminal plasma has been washed off is directly injected into the uterus.
In Vitro Maturation (IVM) allows the benefits of IVF to women who may not be able to tolerate the ovarian stimulation procedures required for IVF.
Ovulation Induction uses oral or injectable fertility medications to either establish ovulation in situations where a woman is otherwise not ovulating, or to improve the existing ovulation process, or to convert a usually unifollicular monthly ovulation process into a polyfollicular process to enhance conception chances.
Ultrasound Services are an essential component of any infertility treatment. The Institute for Human Reproduction is equipped with state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment capable of offering all relevant services.
The Laboratory Services at IHR are the secret to our rates of fertility success. Many fertility programs outsource laboratory work, but IHR strongly believes that key laboratory tests should be performed in-house under the watchful eye of our expert staff.
